IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has had a terrible run in Indian Premier League 2023 season. Warner is having an underwhelming season both the bat and the captaincy hat. Under his leadership, DC have lost five out their five encounters. Even though Warner is placed 2nd at the most runs scored table, he has an abysmal strike rate of 116.92. His wife Candice Warner in an recent interview with Stellar talked about their experience of the 2018 Sandpaper-gate scandal, when Warner was involved in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa and how he came back from it. “There were policemen around us, and also ill-will. I felt like a criminal, returning for justice to be served,” Candice wrote in the News Corp Sunday newspaper, describing their return to find huge crowds of people and media waiting for them at Sydney Airport.

“Dave stopped and spoke briefly to the cameras. He was hurting. I could hear it in his voice, and that hurt me deeply. There was nothing to do but put our heads down and keep going. I’d learned that.”
Candice on the whole ordeal
“I felt, deep down, that it was all my fault. When Dave came back, he kept it together for only a few seconds before he broke down in tears. He told me he was to accept the blame for devising a ball-tampering plan, which was known about by captain Steve Smith and enacted by Cameron Bancroft.” said Candice.

“He said he was being sent home immediately. I grabbed him and held him. He just kept apologizing, over and over and over. Eventually he calmed down and I asked him what had happened in the meeting. He told me he feared that he may never play cricket again.” Candice further added.
