Shane Warne has made $ 2 million (at present conversion rate) in salaries for playing four seasons of the Indian Premier League. His gross salary contracts for playing for the Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2011 is on record in the real-time Indian Premier League salary calculator Moneyball. But the actual value of the deal is several times higher than what the world has known.
But the Australian legend’s ultimate gains from the Rajasthan Royals at present stand at 300% more than his IPL salaries and keep growing as the net worth of the franchisee he represented for all his four seasons in the league is on the rise constantly. In synch with the league’s values.
The deal has made Warne already a ₹ 42 crore investor in the team. The wrist spin wizard had revealed the Rajasthan’s Royal deal that persuaded him to come out of retirement and play the IPL for four seasons. Besides the salaries, he was getting a .75% stake in the team for his every season with the Royals. Having represented Rajasthan Royals for four seasons, Warne today owns 3% stake in the Manoj Badale and Lachlan Murdoch co-owned IPL franchisee.

Warne was given the miniscule stake in IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals during the league’s inaugural edition in 2008. The deal could potentially find the legendary spinner laughing his way to the bank in the coming days, adds PTI.
According to the Herald Sun, Warne given an ownership of 0.75 percent for every year he played after coming out of retirement in 2008.
“Part of my deal (was) because I had retired from international cricket and I came out (of retirement), they asked me to be the captain, coach and run a cricket team the way I wanted to run it; I was the one-stop shop,” Warne was quoted as saying by the Australian paper ‘Herald Sun’.
Warne, who has also been a coach-cum-mentor and then Brand Ambassador of Rajasthan Royals, led an unheralded bunch of players to an unlikely triumph during the inaugural edition of IPL back in 2008.
In fact, current India star Ravindra Jadeja was a talented uncapped player back then, whom Warne had backed to the hilt terming him a “rock star”.
“We were the underdogs, we were the least favoured, no one gave us a chance to win. It was the first ever year of the IPL of franchise cricket where owners bought players and players went into auctions.
Rajasthan Royals franchise is currently worth USD 200 million and Warne according to the report, believes that the valuation will be doubled in next couple of years.
“Three per cent of USD 400 million is all right,’ said Warne, which effectively means that he could earn up to $12 million (₹ 85 crore).
