Yudhvir Singh Charak’s IPL debut
The young fast bowler from Hyderabad was brought on by LSG skipper KL Rahul in the very first over. He first dismissed Punjab Kings opener Atharva Taide for a duck in only his third ball in the IPL. It was a back of the length delivery, angled into the middle and off stump. All Taide could manage was to get a leading edge, and Avesh Khan completed a fine catch at third man.
Yudhvir Singh’s next scalp came in the form of Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh, whose stumps went for a cartwheel in the third over. It was a full ball that pitched and came back in sharply, forcing Prabhsimran Singh into the shot early, but in reality it was all too late. Yudhvir Singh bagged his second wicket, much to the delight of the LSG fans present inside the Ekana stadium.
Who is Yudhvir Singh?
Yudhvir Singh’s full name is Yudhvir Singh Charak, and he was born in Jammu and Kashmir on September 13, 1997. He is an upcoming fast bowling talent from the valley and has represented J&K in the domestic circuit. The 25-year-old pacer has featured in four first-class matches, eight list-A matches, and 14 T20s.
The right-arm pacer made his domestic T20 debut for Hyderabad in November 2019, which was followed by a first-class cricket debut a month later. In November 2022, Yudhvir made his List A debut for J&K and never looked back.
Speaking of the IPL, Yudhvir was snagged by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 auction for Rs 50 lakh. Yudhvir also served as a net bowler for the Mumbai Indians in 2020, and he did enough to impress them to buy him at the auction. However, the talented pacer did not get a single game to showcase his talent.
LSG saw a spark in Yudhvir Singh Charak and bought him for Rs 20 lakh at the IPL auction held in December 2022. Like every young cricketer, Yudhvir Singh too dreams of playing for the country in the near future.
