Formula 1: Michael Schumacher returned from retirement from Formula 1 to join the Mercedes team in 2010, but he was unable to replicate his previous successes with Ferrari. Ricciardo, who is back at Red Bull as a reserve driver, will take part in a demonstration lap in the Red Bull show car. This is the first official lap demo at Nurburgring-Nordschleife since Michael Schumacher took the Mercedes W02 around the track in 2013 as part of the 24-hour race. Although there will be no official Grand Prix at the track, a show run will be held in honour of the return of the premier class to the Nordschleife, featuring other former Formula 1 drivers.

The Nordschleife has a long history in motorsports, and it is also connected to another Formula 1 legend, Niki Lauda. A week before the 1976 German Grand Prix, Lauda, who was the fastest driver on the circuit at the time, urged his fellow drivers to boycott the race due to safety concerns. However, in a twist of fate, Lauda was involved in a terrible crash during the race. He hit the embankment and burst into flames while driving for Ferrari. Although he stood up after the accident, he collapsed later and was given “last rites” at the hospital. However, Lauda survived and returned to racing just six weeks later at Monza, finishing fourth.

While Michael Schumacher’s return to Formula 1 with Mercedes in 2010 was not as successful as his time with Ferrari, he still achieved some memorable moments. Daniel Ricciardo’s upcoming demonstration lap in the Red Bull show car at Nurburgring-Nordschleife will be the first of its kind since Schumacher’s lap in 2013. Additionally, the track has a long history in motorsports, including Niki Lauda’s incredible comeback after a fiery crash in 1976.
