IPL 2023: Reece Topley – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Reece Topley has gone under the knife after suffering an injury on the shoulder during the game against Mumbai Indians. Topley was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 after playing only one game owing to a shoulder dislocation. While injuries can be frustrating to sportspersons, Topley’s sense of humor remained intact in the hospital as he posted a picture with the caption “Insert generic comeback quote here.” The left-arm pacer is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. IPL 2023: Wayne Parnell replaces Reece Topley
Topley’s picture garnered a lot of eyeballs on social media as cricketers and netzines wished the England pacer a speedy recovery. Topley was supposed to play a key role for RCB in the power play and death overs in the absence of Josh Hazlewood. In his first game against MI, the left-arm pacer picked up one wicket but could finish his quota of four overs, as he jarred his shoulders badly while attempting to stop the ball near the fine leg. Wayne Parnell has replaced Topley for the remainder of IPL 2023 season.
The South Africa pacer made an immediate impact in the game against LSG as he picked up three wickets. Parnell had a good outing, but RCB suffered a one-wicket loss against LSG, as they failed to defend 212.
IPL 2023: RCB eye comeback against hapless-looking Delhi Capitals
RCB are on a two-match losing streak and placed seventh on the points table. The Faf du Plessis-led side will face Delhi Capitals in their fourth match on Saturday. DC are yet to win a game in the four matches that they have played so far in IPL 2023 season. RCB would be aiming for a strong comeback, and try to enter the top half of the points table.
