Davis’s nickname lasted as he got older, and it was fitting for a promising young fighter because of the might behind it. Given that the young shot eventually matured into a skilled and powerful fighter who routinely annihilated his opponents in the ring, the moniker seemed apt.

Despite his formidable fighting technique, he is more than just a power puncher for a number of reasons. Davis is no stranger to knocking people out; in his first nine fights as a professional, he knocked out eight of his opponents. This hegemony has persisted into the present day.

Gervonta Davis, on his professional debut, knocked out Desi Williams in the first round. Davis was just 18 years old.

Davis first met Floyd Mayweather in the summer of 2015, during one of Adrien Broner’s training camps. In the latter part of that year, he signed with Mayweather Promotions and promptly skyrocketed to new heights in his career. On the Jack vs. DeGale undercard at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Davis challenged the then-IBF champion, Jose Pedraza, and won through upset and “TKO of the year” candidate in front of a record-breaking crowd. Davis has since competed in four straight title fights. Davis successfully defended his WBA championship against Hugo Ruiz in a 1st round knockout on February 9, 2019, at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Davis has shown nothing but hard work, drive, and confidence in himself since joining with Mayweather Promotions in 2015. Davis is currently undefeated with a 21-0-0 record and 20 knockouts. He has won over an international following with his spectacular performances, and he is eager to seize any future opportunities that may arise. Davis hopes to keep winning world championships and establishing a solid financial foundation so that he can provide for his family and serve as an inspiration to other young people from disadvantaged situations.
