They then returned home for their second game and defeated KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants. For their third game, they traveled to the iconic Wankhede Stadium and beat five-time champion Mumbai Indians at their home-ground.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals won their first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. RR then returned home for their second game. They played at their home-ground Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati against Punjab Kings but lost the game. In the third game, Rajasthan defeated Delhi Capitals at Baraspara Stadium.
