Messi Barcelona Transfer: The future of Lionel Messi at PSG remains cloudy as none of the parties have been able to come to an agreement regarding Messi’s new contract. Taking this opportunity, Barcelona have come sweeping in to take their star player back home. However, that deal also has not found any solid footing yet. There have been many rumours that PSG do not want to renew Lionel Messi’s deal and that his teammate French star Kylian Mbappe also does not want him there. However, as per reports, the truth is very much different than these stories. PSG have tried to sign Messi twice ad it was the Argentine who rejected the deal both times. Apparently, Mbappe also knows the value Messi adds to the team and he wants the Argentine to stay in France for as long as possible.

Messi’s contract with PSG ends at the end of this season. PSG started the contract talk first at the end of the World Cup 2022, but Messi reportedly rejected the deal. PSG tried another time before their Champions League matches against Bayern Munich. Messi turned that deal down as well. As per reports, they will keep trying to sign him and complete the signing as soon as possible.

It later came out that PSG wanted him to take a 25% pay cut to stay on the right side of the Financial Fair Play rules. However, Lionel Messi refused to take the pay cut. There have also been instances where many PSG fans were seen booing Messi during their matches. Amidst all this confusion, there have been rumours that Messi and his family want to return to Barcelona.

However, considering Barcelona’s current financial situation, they will have to make some serious adjustments if they want to bring him back. They will also have to do it as soon as possible, especially because David Beckham’s MLS side, Inter Miami have shown interest in Messi. Additionally, the Qatari club Al-Hilal are also offering a staggering £350 million per year for the player.

Lionel Messi has not responded to any rumours as of yet. However, Barcelona coach Xavi, president Laporta, and vice-president Rafa Yuste have agreed that they have contacted Messi regarding his wish to return to the Spanish club. However, they have not confirmed whether the player has shown any positive response to their offer or not. Reportedly, Barcelona have started taking steps to make their financial situation suitable to bring Messi back.

There are only a few months left on Lionel Messi’s contract and he PSG fail to sign a new contract with him before then, he will become a free agent. A number of PSG fans might not want to see the player in their colours, but the club owners have expressed that they want to see the signing completed as soon as possible. The players including Mbappe also want the player to stay in the club.
