India Domestic Cricket Schedule: The BCCI have earmarked a tentative schedule for the upcoming domestic cricket season post the end of IPL 2023. The season kicks off with the Duleep Trophy in late June and ends with the Ranji Trophy, which culminates in March next year. The Deodhar Trophy returns after a hiatus of 3 years due to COVID-19. One of the oldest domestic competitions in the country, the tournament will play in July and August, ahead of the ODI World Cup in India as per Times of India. The last edition of the competition was played in 2019 with three teams – India A, India B and India C vying for the title. This year, it returns to a traditional zonal format, with six zones participating.

The Deodhar Trophy’s return signals India’s focus on ODIs with the World Cup around the corner. While BCCI and the team management have shortlisted their players, they could very well be involved in the tournament for further match practice.
The season begins with two zonal competitions with the Duleep Trophy and the Deodhar Trophy. The calendar then moves to the Irani Cup, with Saurashtra facing the Rest of India in Rajkot from October 1 to 5. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be played in October – November followed by the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The season begins and ends with red ball cricket with the Ranji Trophy set to kick off in January next year. The competition will be played until March 14, about two weeks before the IPL 2024 kicks off. The IPL 2023 began on Macrh 31 this year, and a similar window is expected for the tournament next season as well.
