GT vs KKR Live: Afghanistan T20 captain Rashid Khan is leading the Ahmedabad franchise Gujarat Titans against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Rashid Khan was standing-in for regular skipper Hardik Pandya who was ruled out of the T20 game due to illness. Rashid Khan did his best and bagged a hat-trick, but that wasn’t enough to save Gujarat as they lost to KKR by 3 wickets. The 24-year-old might be one of the world’s most feared T20 bowlers, but is a fairly young captain in the Indian Premier League. The match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday wasn’t the first time Rashid Khan was leading a franchise in the IPL. His debut as captain came in IPL 2022. Rashid Khan’s IPL captaincy debut came last year against Chennai Super Kings at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Khan played a key role in leading his side to victory over 4-time-champions in IPL 2022. He smashed 20-ball 41 runs against MS Dhoni led CSK and handed them a defeat by 3 wickets with just one ball to spare.
Thanks to Rinku Singh, Rashid Khan’s cent percent record as an IPL captain doesn’t exist. Under his leadership, Gujarat Titans has now now won one match and lost one. However, at the end of the match, Rashid Khan’s Tweet had gone viral. With Hardik Pandya likely to take breaks on a regular basis due to his fragile body, Gujarat Titans need not to worry about his replacement as far as captaincy goes – Rashid Khan Hain naa!
