Sunrisers Hyderabad’s start to the IPL season 16 wasn’t ideal. In the absence of their regular captain Aiden Markram, they lost their first match against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground. Markram was back in the squad for the second match, but they were hosted and defeated by Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets. However, Markram and Co. have the potential to turn their season into a fruitful one.

After defeating the two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders and last season’s runner-up Rajasthan Royals, Punjab would be motivated to replicate the same result. We will see no changes in the PBKS squad except for Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who got retired hurt during the match against Rajasthan Royals. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan and star batter Prabhsimran Singh, will once again open the inning.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad Pitch Report

Over the years, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has served as the home ground for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Stadium has hosted 64 Indian Premier League matches so far.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is a favourable site to bat first in limited-overs cricket. The pitch is favourable to medium-pace bowlers and spinners in the second innings. The surface starts to spin as the ball approaches the bat slowly. This surface is typically dry and challenging, which helps bowlers with bounce and spin.

Batting is easy on such a surface in both innings, and lots of runs can be scored in a short amount of time. The ground gives you more opportunities to score in T20 matches because of its size. Teams always opt to bat first and use their bowling assault to protect the score in limited-over matches because there is no dew factor.

A total of 64 IPL matches have been played here at his venue. Out of which the chasing team won 35 times, while the team batting first won 28 times. One game ended with no result.

The average first-inning score at this venue is 158 runs. The highest total ever recorded here is 231 runs, which was smashed by the home team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Conversely, the lowest total ever recorded here is 80 runs, which was scored by Delhi Capitals.

In Hyderabad, it is a given that both teams will try to win the toss and choose to bat first. A high-scoring match is anticipated given the caliber of both teams’ batting.
