Formula 1: Well, looks like George Russell is weighing his comments on Red Bull, saying that he expects them, “to win every single race this season”. The Mercedes driver has a late realisation of his claim and believes that Mercedes’ upcoming upgrades are going to change his mind. Formula 1 LIVE Updates with InsideSport.IN.

After a dominant win by Red Bull’s Verstappen in the Bahrain GP, Russell couldn’t help but comment that he expects the Milton Keynes team to eventually win every race of 2023.

Mercedes completed two positions in the Top 10 on the Bahrain tracks, with the Russell-Hamilton duo being at the seventh and fifth position respectively. While in the Australian Grand Prix, Russell and Hamilton enjoyed the lead in the race until a power unit failure kicked Russell out, and Hamilton finished as the runner-up.

“Obviously, after a frustrating qualifying, like the one we had in Bahrain, you say some things in the heat of the moment. By the sounds of what Max is saying, there was probably still a little bit more in the locker.

We’re talking those three-tenths, is a little bit. Normally, they’re a second ahead. Now, they’re three-tenths ahead. That’s still a huge amount in the world of F1.” Russell said. As it looks like, the upgrades have forced the driver to ‘reassess’ his claims about Mercedes going against Red Bull.

However, Red Bull didn’t have a history of such strength and dominance in the past before the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GP, but the Mercedes driver took no thoughts before passing the comment. Upon asking if Russell still believes in the clean sweep by Red Bull, he said, ” We’re not going to give up, we’re going to keep on pushing. Right now, we’ll have to reassess when we bring some upgrades to the car.”

The British driver has however confirmed that the upgrades won’t be debuting on the tracks before the Emilia Romagna GP in late of May. The Mercedes team is currently working towards the further refinement of the mechanics of the cars and, hence, boost the confidence of its drivers.  It will be really fascinating to see if at all Russell’s reassessment will be really effective or not.
