El Clasico: La Liga Live: Messi and FC Barcelona share a unique love story. Leo Messi started his career and made the most magic happen while wearing the Blue and Claret of the Blaugrana. If it were up to him, it would have been no doubt that he was never going to leave. But, due to financial issues in 2021, Messi and Barcelona had to part ways. After playing close to 2 seasons in PSG, it seems as though homecoming is on the cards. The Barcelona fans voiced their appreciation by chanting ‘Messi, Messi’ during the 10th minute of the El Clasico. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN
In contrast, even though Messi hasn’t played at the Camp Nou since 2021, he is still revered and loved all the same. You could walk up to any Barcelona fan and ask them about Messi and you are going to get a synonymous answer – WE WANT HIM BACK.

Messi is being heavily linked with a return to the Spanish giants in the summer as his Paris Saint-Germain future remains up in the air. It was reported last week that Barcelona has “made contact” with Messi in a bid to bring the club legend home.
Clubs rumored to be interested in Messi
- Inter Miami (MLS)
- Al-Hilal (Saudi Pro League)
- FC Barcelona (La Liga)
At the recent El Clasico at the Spotify Camp Nou, fans made their emotions very clear. In the tenth minute of their Copa del Rey semi-final second match against bitter rivals Real Madrid, they could be heard chanting “Messi, Messi.” Leo wore the No. 10 jersey for 13 years until he departed Barcelona in difficult circumstances in 2021. Messi scored 672 goals in 778 games for Barcelona.
Return to FC Barcelona?
A return to FC Barcelona cannot be ruled out for Leo Messi. The Argentine spent his whole life at the club, before having to make the move to PSG in 2021. Barcelona’s vice-president Rafael Yuste has said Barca has been in contact with Lionel Messi and his agent and has confirmed Barca’s interest in bringing back Leo.
Yuste said, ‘Leo and his family know the affection I have for them. I participated in the negotiations which unfortunately did not lead to a certain result. I’ve always had and I have this thorn in my side that Leo couldn’t continue at our club. Messi knows how much we appreciate him. I would love for him to come back. We’re in contact, of course, with them.’
