The last time Ravichandran Ashwin opened an innings in the Indian Premier League was back in 2013 for Chennai Super Kings against the Kolkata Knight Riders. In that innings the spinner managed to 11 runs from 13 deliveries. Adding another feather to his cap, Ashwin now has batted in all positions from 1 to 10.
It has come to light as to why Ashwin opened with Jaiswal in place of Jos Buttler. Apparently, the explosive English batter and the IPL 2022 Orange Cap win hurt his finger while taking a catch to dismiss Shahrukh Khan. With all that being said, Ashwin’s opening adventured ended shortly when he was dismissed for a duck after playing just 4 deliveries.
