Former England captain Joe Root is set to make his IPL debut for the Rajasthan Royals this year. Root has registered for IPL Auctions in the past, but none of the teams showed interest in his services. Last December, Rajasthan Royals offered him a contract at the IPL 2023 Auction.
Meanwhile, the Royals will take on Punjab Kings in their next group-stage encounter of the Indian Premier League. To note, both teams are coming to the match after securing a victory in their previous encounter and will want to continue their winning run in the competition.
PBKS came out victorious against Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous encounter. The match was looking close but eventually the home side came out trumps and won the match by 7 runs through DLS method. On the other hand, RR were very clinical against Sunrisers Hyderabad as they collected a big victory in their tournament opener.
