The IPL 2023 season didn’t get off to the greatest start for the KKR. They suffered a loss against the Punjab Kings. Tim Southee claimed two wickets, but he was unable to slow down the Kings’ 191-run scoring pace. Before the rain arrived the Knight Riders were regularly dropping wickets and had reached a score of 146/7 after 16 overs. The Knight Riders were unable to continue playing, and using the DLS technique, they were defeated by a score of 7 runs.
Southee will once again be in charge of the KKR bowling assault against the RCB, as pacer Lockie Ferguson missed the team’s opening game due to an injury that is anticipated to be minor. Southee’s performance against PBKS wasn’t the greatest; he took two wickets but also gave up 54 runs in his four allotted overs.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore had a fantastic opening to the season. At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, they defeated the Mumbai Indians easily. Seven wickets were taken by the Royal Challengers in total, limiting the Mumbai Indians to 171. Leading the assault with the bat at the top of the order, Virat Kohli (82*) and captain Faf du Plessis (73) successfully chased down the total in the 17th over with eight wickets remaining.
