DC vs GT: Delhi Capitals are taking on Gujarat Titans in their second group-stage encounter of the Indian Premier League 2023. The defending champions won the toss and opted to have a bowl first. Meanwhile, the Capitals handed a debut cap to youngster Abhishek Porel who replaced DC’s permanent skipper Rishabh Pant in the squad. Porel’s first six in the IPL was a little anticlimactic as Yash Dayal made an excellent effort at the boundary ropes but in vain. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

Playing his debut game, Porel played some decent shots for his 20 off just 11 balls. His innings included two maximums but he was cleaned up by the magician Rashid Khan. Meanwhile, the Capitals have reached 162 runs in their allotted 20 overs as they lost 8 wickets in the process.
Porel’s inclusion in the team comes after Sarfaraz Khan had a poor outing behind the wicket in the first match against Lucknow Super Giants. Porel has kept wickets against the star Bengal trio of Ishan Porel (his cousin brother), Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar (his DC teammate). His match against GT will be a bigger test as he will have to face South Africa speedster Anrich Nortje, one of the fastest bowlers in the world.
It’s been raining here in Delhi, so the outfield has changed. There was grass and there was some movement as well. There is uneven bounce, some balls bounced and some kept a bit low, there was swing as well at the start. If we take early wickets, we can win this. This is a good score on this surface. The outfield is slow. There is some dew now. We need to play good cricket to win this,” said Sarfaraz Khan in mid-innings break.
