Manchester City vs Liverpool: Premier League Live Updates: The Premier League is back after a 2-week pause due to the international break. And the very first game has delivered up to the expectations. Manchester City and Liverpool faced each other at the Etihad Stadium. It was a must-win game for both teams but for different reasons. On one hand, City needed those three points to close the gap between table-toppers Arsenal. On the other, Liverpool needed those three to remain in contention for the UCL spot next season. Despite being without their goal machine, Erling Haaland, Manchester City crushed the Reds by 4-1. The match was all even till half time, but City came stronger in the second half to score three goals. Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Jack Grealish scored the goals fo City. Whereas for Liverpool, only Mohmmad Salah managed to be on the scoresheet.

Rodri escaped that or was it not a 2nd yellow?

Manchester City are now 5 points behind Arsenal, making the Gunners work hard to win the Premier League trophy. City will now face Southampton next week before playing the UCL quarterfinal against Bayern Munich.

On the other hand, the road forward looks tough for Liverpool. They are currently 6th and 7 points behind the 4th-placed Tottenham Hotspurs. Liverpool’s next game is against Chelsea midweek, and then they will be up against table toppers Arsenal. They will need those 6 points in order to keep their hopes alive for top four.

Liverpool are out of every competition at this point of the season and their only hope is top 4.
