IPL 2023: Josh Hazlewood Injury – After Rajat Patidar, Royal Challengers Bangalore have been dealt another blow with Australian quick Josh Hazlewood is all set to miss the first half of IPL. But his fate hangs in balance as Cricket Australia will only decide on his NOC after an injury assessment. With WTC Final on June 7, CA may decide against issuing an NOC. Hazlewood flew back home after the 2nd Test and did not take part in the ODI series. He is still at home in Australia, recovering from the injury. With World Test Championship starting on June 7, cloud hangs over his availability for the IPL.
RCB have already received two big blows. Will Jacks was ruled out while Rajat Patidar is also missing the first half. Only an MRI scan on April 14 will decide whether Patidar, RCB’s third highest-scorer last season, will be available. He is still at the NCA, recovering from a heel injury.
Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will also miss the first two games. The leggie is with the national team in New Zealand and will be available only after April 8.
With all three out, RCB are in a sticky spot. Reece Topley is likely to start with Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel as three pacers. But it’s Rajat Patidar’s spot that will be up for grabs. Anuj Rawat and Mohipal Lomror are the best placed. But the likes of Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell could also fight for the spot.
