Karim Benzema announced his retirement from the national team after the Qatar World Cup campaign ended. The striker was unimpressed with the way he was treated by the manager, Didier Deschamps. Recently, he took to Instagram and called the manager ‘Liar’ for his claims made in an interview.
Benzema was invited for a retirement ceremony to be held at Stade de France before the game against the Netherlands, the camping started for Euro 2024 qualifiers. Along with Benzema, France will be honouring former World Cup winners of 2018, Hugo Lloris, and defender Raphael Varane, who also announced their retirement from the national team after the World Cup.
However, Benzema will not be available for the ceremony. The 35-year-old striker cited the reason that ‘he was not available’.

Benzema’s career with the French national team hasn’t been very smooth since making his debut in 2007. He was not included in the squad for the 2010 World Cup. Later, he missed 5 years of his career from 2014 because of the s*x scandal tape. However, he appeared in the Euro 2020 and the Nations Cup in 2021.
The Ballon d’Or winner of the year 2022 was expected to play a huge role for his side in the Qatar World Cup, but was unable to do so because of an injury.

Karim Benzema sustained an injury just before the World Cup campaign started in Qatar. Several reports claimed that he would have been available for France for the knockout stages but decided to leave the squad and flew back home.
