IPL 2023: England Test captain Ben Stokes is on his way to Chennai to participate in the upcoming IPL 2023. After a short break from the action, Stokes returns with his new IPL franchise in India. The all-action all-rounder is expected to arrive at the Chepauk later this week alongside Moeen Ali. Stokes will re-unite with ex-RPSG teammate MS Dhoni, and is quite stoked to join the franchise. Despite a troublesome knee and the Ashes 2023 looming, Ben Stokes received the NOC from the ECB to participate in the IPL. On Thursday, he shared a photo of his bags on Instagram and captioned, “See You Soon @chennaiipl”.

Stokes is CSK’s most expensive purchase ever in an IPL auction. The franchise forked a massive Rs 16.25 crore to get the Englishman on board. His availability for the entire IPL season however remains in question. England play Ireland in a one-off Test starting on June 1. Stokes remains keen to feature being England captain and a decision will be taken after he arrives at the CSK camp.
Moeen Ali meanwhile is available for the whole season. The veteran retired from Tests and has no international commitments during the tournament. Ali has become an instrumental part in his two years at the franchise and will be the fulcrum of the side alongside Stokes and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Stokes alongside Moeen Ali will join the CSK camp later this week. MS Dhoni and Co are already training at the venue in the build up the tournament. The full Chennai Super Kings squad will have a couple of training sessions together before they set sail for Ahmedabad for their season opener. Dhoni’s side play Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 31.
