India’s only silver medallist at the senior world wrestling championship in 2019, Deepak Punia will be seen in action in the Indian armed forces 69th inter-services wrestling championships in Ghorpadi, Pune. The opening ceremony of the championships was attended by more than 200 wrestlers, coaches and officials from Army Services Control Board (ASCB) and Services Sports Control Board (SSCB).
Punia who is naib subedar in the Indian army had earlier decided to skip the Senior nationals championships starting end of November in Jalandhar. In an interview to WrestlingTV, Punia had said that he has just resumed training after his injury at the world championships in Nur-Sultan.
The All India services wrestling event started with bouts in free style (57kg) between Army Red and Navy teams. This was followed by bouts in the 74kg, 92kg and 125kg categories in free style and 72kg, 82kg and 130kg…Click here to Continue reading
