IPL 2023: Indian veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma advised young pace sensation Umran Malik to concentrate only on bowling fast. Ishant also said that the fastest Indian bowler in the Indian Premier League should not worry about his line and length. In a recent interview, Ishant said that the goal should be that batters are afraid of Sunrisers Hyderabad star pacer Umran Malik when he bowls at them. Ishant further added that someone in the management should give him the confidence to bowl so fast that the batters cannot see his delivery. IPL 2023: Ishant Sharma’s Advice to Umran Malik
Speaking to Cricbuzz, veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma said that Umran Malik should bowl at full speed. He should not have fear of getting hit for runs. Ishant also said that team management should give him that freedom.
“He shouldn’t worry about ki kaha fek raha hai. Jab khelega, experience ayega toh woh fek hi dega. But abhi sabse important cheez hai ki teez fekni hai. So agar 150-160 jo bhi fek sakta hai woh feke. He should just back himself. Kya fark padta hai ki agar run keliye jaa raha hai toh. Tera kaam run bachana nehi, out karna hai,” said Ishant.
“Jab tak batters ki aankh band nehi hoti toh speed ka kya fayda? Koi usko iss tarike se confidence de ki batsman ki aankehin do baar to band karani hi hai. (What is the use of pace if the batters don’t end up closing their eyes in fear. So someone should tell him and give him the confidence that you have to bowl so fast that batters must blink twice while facing him),” he added.
Umran Malik came into the limelight in IPL 2021 for his raw pace. He leveled up his game last season by claiming 22 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also got an India call-up last year and made his debut against Ireland.
Till now, Umran has played 8 ODIs and 8 T20Is so far and impressed many with his speed. Umran has claimed 13 wickets in ODIs and 11 wickets in T20s. While he has already bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian in international cricket – 156 kmph and he clocked 157 kmph in IPL 2022.
