For example, results from different leagues under UEFA will be considered along with winners of the Champions League who will get a direct entry. The same rule will be followed for all other federations except Oceania. In that manner, Chelsea as the UEFA Champions League 2020-21 winner, and Real Madrid as the 2021-22 winner have received direct entry.

A total of 12 teams from UEFA will be selected for the competition which will include the 4 direct-entry Champions League winners that will lead up to the competition. 6 total teams will be selected from CONMEBOL which will include winners of the Copa Libertadores.

4 teams will be selected respectively from CONCACAF, CAF, and AFC. As this brings the total number to 30 teams, 1 team will be selected from OFC and the other slot will be kept empty for the host top club from the host country.
