Virat Kohli Sick? Virat Kohli bats 364 balls in Ahmedabad heat to keep India in WTC Finals race despite FEVER, Anushka Sharma reveals – Check out
Virat Kohli ended his long wait for a Test century with a sensational knock at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. It was his first Test century in over three years and helped India remain in the contest and kept their WTC Final hopes alive. Kohli batted 364 balls, the second most in his entire career. His highest was 366 balls for his 211 against NewZealand in 2016. The testimony to Kohli’s fitness was running a three with Axar Patel when he was in his 160s.
The feat was particularly more impressive after wife Anushka Sharma revealed that the former Indian captain was sick. In an emotional Instagram story, she wrote, “Playing through sickness with this composure. Inspiring me always.”
Prithi Narayanan, the wife of Ravichandran Ashwin, later revealed in her story that Kohli was battling a fever. Despite the fever, he faced more than 50 overs himself. Kohli took India to safe shores, when his side absolutely needed it the most.
Kohli’s epic knock helped India amass 571 in response to Australia’s first innings score of 480. A draw still looks the most likely result, but if any team wins the Test from here, it will be India, who would then go on to win the series 3-1 and directly qualify for the World Test Championship final, without having to wait on the fate of Sri Lanka’s Test series versus New Zealand.
