Officials. The 35-year old however has still not given up. He is trying to make his way into the Miami Open that is set to begin from 22nd March.

“He wants to play and I would love it if they allow him. It would be great both for him and for Tennis. If not, it’s not the end of the world, he didn’t play last year as well. After winning the Australian Open this year, Djokovic next targets the French Open. Ivanisevic says the primary focus for Djokovic is the upcoming clay court season. “Although, in terms of preparing for the European clay court season, I’m not sure playing in Miami is the best solution. It depends on Novak – in the past he has triumphed in Monte Carlo having played in Indian Wells and Miami,” added Ivanisevic.

If Djokovic is not allowed to enter Miami, he will next be seen in action at the Monte Carlo Masters. The clay court ATP 1000 event will get underway from 9th April. The World No.1 is also facing a threat to his No.1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas. If any one of them wins the sunshine double, then Djokovic will slide down to the second spot in the rankings.
