Alex Hales was named as his replacement and the Jos Buttler led-side went on to win the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, following his T20I World Cup snub, he faced another disappointment. He went unsold during the IPL Auction. Roy was picked by the Gujarat Titans last year. However just before the tournament he decided to take an indefinite break from cricket.
