After delaying the surgery for months, Bumrah will go under the knife next week under the supervision of Dr Rowan Schouten. The Kiwi surgeon also operated on Jofra Archer besides Shane Bond. However, Bumrah will need three-four months to recover and then it will take a while to be back in action. With the timeframe, Bumrah is racing against time to be fit for the World Cup 2023. He has been already ruled out of Border Gavaskar Trophy, WTC Final and IPL 2023. Follow India Cricket Team Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“Jasprit Bumrah left for New Zealand five days ago to undergo back surgery. After doctors advised Bumrah to undergo surgery, BCCI immediately made all the arrangements and sent him. The surgery will be carried out in a day or two,” Sports Tak quoted a BCCI source as saying.

Officially, Bumrah would take four weeks to get back on his feet. But the recovery is longer. After the recovery, his arduous rehabilitation will begin which can take anywhere between 3-5 months.

“It is difficult to set a return date. Once he recovers from surgery, he will undergo a rehab and only when the rehab ends, we will know when he can come back,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport earlier.
