In a lovely and bright encounter, Odisha FC began the game on an offensive note, but physical to be accurate. ATK Mohun Bagan lost winger Ashique Kuruniyan after Reynier Fendes brought him down with a crunching ankle tackle. Liston Colaco came on to replace the former after just 8 minutes of the game.

With both sides trying their best to grab a goal, the game was mostly played in the midfield. 5 minutes past the half-hour make, Amrinder gave a scintillating save to deny the opposition. However, Petratos decided to take a quick corner, and Manvir ventured into the box to give back flip and lay it off for Boumous. The Moroccan-French international wasted minimal time to pounce on the opportunity and put the ball into the back of the net.

2 minutes before the hour mark, Dimitri Petratos make it 2-0 for the Mariners. Breaking a counterattack, Carl HcHugh passed it to Boumous who lost his opponents with a neat 360-degree turn. Boumous then passed it to McHugh who then laid it to Petratos who with his instep put the ball into the back of the net. 2-0 for ATK Mohun Bagan.

Tragedy befell after the goal. Diego Mauricio’s finishing attempt saw him colliding with Vishal Kaith who apparently went senseless on the pitch. The medical personnel along with the ambulance was brought into the pitch. However, minutes later, the goalie recovered but was subbed off as Arsh Anwar took the field.

Seeing a new keeper in the ATKMB goal, Pedro Martin was put in to increase his side’s potency in the final ten minutes of the game. However, it was the hosts who spent most of the time in the opposition half, not allowing Odisha FC to launch any promising attacks until the full-time whistle as the Juggernauts finished with just a solitary effort on target.

As the final whistle was blown, Odisha FC’s stint in the playoffs was brought to an end, while ATKMB progressed to the next stage to face Hyderabad FC in a two-legged semi-final on March 9 and 13.
