Australia takes the top spot in the WTC standings with a PCT of 69.0 after defeating India in the third Test. The WTC final has been confirmed for Australia. Australia will have a PCT of 65.0 and retain their top spot in the points table even if they lose the fourth Test and go down 3-1 in the series.

India is facing more difficulties after losing the third Test. The Rohit Sharma-led side must now defeat Australia in the fourth Test to guarantee their spot in the WTC final. Even though India’s PCT has decreased to 60, they still hold the second position in the WTC points standings. With a PCT of 53.0, Sri Lanka is ranked third.

How India can qualify for the WTC Final?

For the final, the Indian team still needs one win. After this crushing victory, Australia have taken the top rank with 69.0 PCT. The Australians have now advanced to the finals and are awaiting their opponents. It’s interesting to note that even if Australia loses the fourth and final Test match and the series concludes 3-1, they will finish with a PCT of 65.0 and will remain in first place.

  • If the last Test is a draw, India’s PCT will fall to 59.0. India will then have to hope that Sri Lanka does not humiliate the Kiwis. India qualifies if Sri Lanka do not defeat the Kiwis by 2-0.
  • If India manages to defeat Australia 3-1 by winning the final Test, the Rohit Sharma & Co will grab a PCT of 63.0 and will finish as the 2nd team in the points table.
  • Even if Sri Lanka beats New Zealand 2-0, they would still finish with a PCT of 61.0, placing them behind Australia and India in third place on the WTC table.
  • If Australia again outperforms India in the last Test, the  series will end in a 2-2 tie and Sri Lanka can qualify for the WTC final if they defeat New Zealand 2-0.
  • If India loses the last Test in Ahmedabad, their chances to qualify for the final final will rely on how Sri Lanka and New Zealand fare in their series.
