Formula 1 Driver List: F1 2023 Season – All the teams in Formula One has their selected drivers that drive the cars. Alongside them are reserved drivers, the ones who are on standby during the weekends of Grand Prix. Due to any reason if the main driver cannot drive then they are the team’s Plan B. MERCEDES

Main drivers – Mercedes have Lewis Hamilton and George Russell as their main drivers. Lewis Hamilton is known to be a top notch driver and he also happens to hold the record for most number of wins. On the other hand Mercedes spotted George Russell outstanding potential and had him signed to their junior programme. Russell had made a magnificent debut campaign in spite of the team struggle last year.

Reserve driver – Mercedes have Mick Schumacher as their reserve driver for the 2023 season. The German racing driver earlier competed in the 2021 and 2022 seasons of Formula One for the Haas F1 team. Mick also happens to be the winner of 2018 FIA F3 European Championship.

RED BULL

Main drivers – Max verstappen and Sergio Perez are the main drivers for the Red Bull F1 team. Verstappen at just 17 years old was the youngest to ever compete in Formula One. He is known to have a heart of a lion. He became the youngest race winner at the age of 18. Sergio Perez won his first Formula One Grand Prix at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. The Mexican racing driver broke the record for the member of starts before a race win at 190.

Reserve Driver – In November Red Bull had announced Daniel Ricciardo as a reserve driver in the team. The Italian Australian racing driver previously draw for McLaren. Ricciardo who has achieved 8 Grand Prix victories in Formula One.

ASTON MARTIN

Main drivers –This Formula One team is no stranger to success having Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso as their main driver’s this team is giving a tough competition this season. Stroll made his debut in 2017 season setting records. He was a part of Ferrari driver Academy. Stroll recently reported to have an injury on his wrist which might refrain him from driving this season.

Aston Martin has Fernando Alonso as one of their main drivers this season. He previously drove for McLaren and as well as Ferrari. This spanish racing driver is often reported as one of the greatest F1 drivers in the history of the sport.

Reserve driver – Felipe Drugovich is the reserved driver for Aston Martin. It has been officially confirmed by the team that Drugovich will be the one to race for the team in Bahrain Grand Prix. The Brazilian Italian driver is the winner of the 2022 formula 2 championship.

ALPINE

Main drivers –Alpine has Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon as its main drivers. Gasly is the 2016 GP 2 series champion. He recently opened about Alpine’s targets for the F1 season 2023. With this season approaching, the Frenchman is already to rule the frack. Estaban Ocon had a rough life but his career took its pace when he beat Max Verstappen to the European F3 title. He drove for Mercedes in the first 10 races of the 2016 DTM season.

Reserve Driver – Alpine officially announced Jack Doohan as the team’s reserve driver for 2023. In 2017 Red Bull had signed Doohan in their junior team.

HAAS

Main drivers – Haas is known to be the youngest team on the track. They made their magnificent debut in 2016. Currently for the F1 2023 season, Haas has Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg as their main drivers. Kevin Magnussen is a second generation F1 driver but he is back on the track only for one reason – to race. With Nico Hulkenberg supporting as the main driver for Haas, he previously competed for Aston Martin F1 team as their reserve driver in 2022 season.

Reserve driver – Has has the same reserve driver for the past 3 seasons – Pietro Fitipaldi. He has filled in well. He is the 4th member of the Fittipaldi family to race in Formula One.

MCLAREN

Main drivers – McLaren’s journey in Formula One so far has been nothing but breathtaking. This team has Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as their main drivers. Lando Norris has been on McLaren book for 2 years before fast tracking him into F1’s Galaxy of stars. Oscar Piastri, an Australian racing driver was previously the reserve driver of the Alpine F1 team. He is the winner of 2021 formula 2 championship.

Reserve Driver – It was mentioned that McLaren will employ its own reserve drivers again this year. This team has Alex Palou and Mick Schumacher as their reserve drivers all season. Palou and Schumacher will both be made available as a stand in.

ALPHA TAURI –

Main drivers – This team was established in 2006 originally named Toro Rosso. Alpha Tauru has Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck De Vries as their main drivers this season. Tsunoda went from racing in japanese F4 to a formula one seat with this team in just over 3 years. Red bull certainly think that Yuki Tsunoda Could be the first Japanese driver driver to win the world championship Grand Prix. Nyck De Vries Is known to be the hottest options on the driver’s market. Vries has ultimately Landed a full time deal with Alpha Tauri.

Reserve Driver – Alpha Tauri has it’s close relations with Red Bull and does not have a reserve driver of it’s own. The talented youngsters from the Red bull training programme are given the chance to gain mileage in this team.

WILLIAMS

Main drivers – Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant Are the main drivers of this F1 team. Alexander Albon is racing under the flag of Thailand but is a British born. He previously raced for Toro Rosso and red bull. Albon is in a multi year contract with Williams and he will pair off with Logan Sargeant who replaced the departing Nicholas Latifi. Sergeant is an American racing driver who previously competed in the 2022 FIA formula 2 championship driving for Carlin motorsport.

Reserve Driver – In previous years Williams have been looking up to the reserves of engine partner Mercedes whenever it was required so Williams does not employ any reserve drivers its own.

ALFA ROMEO

Main drivers – Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu are the F1 2023 Seasons main drivers for Alfa Romeo. Bottas made his Formula One debut with Williams in 2013 season and soon became a part of this family. He previously drove for Mercedes as well. Currently Bottas is under contract to race with Alfa Romeo from 2020 on a multi year deal. He is parpartnered Zhou Guanyu who happens to be the first chinese racing driver ever to compete in formula one. During the second day of testing in BAHRAIN, Zhou set the fastest time with a 1:31.610.

Reserve Drivers – In October Alfa Romeo Announced Theo Pourchaire, The top French talent as their official reserve driver. Theo is a part of the Sauber Academy.

FERRARI

Main drivers – It is almost like Formula One and Ferrari has been inseparable. Ferrari happens to be the only team who is a part of every season of Formula One since the beginning of the world championship. The team has Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz as he main drivers. Leclerc is a monegasque racing driver who won the GP3 Series championship in 2016.

He was a part of the Ferrari driver Academy. He previously was the development driver for the house F1 team. The other main driver Sainz was a part of the Red Bull junior team. He is the son of Carlos Saints senior a double World Rally champion. Sainz had joined Ferrari on a two-year contract from the 2021 season partnering Charles Leclerc and replacing Sebastian Vettel.

Reserve driver – Ferrari has Antonio Giovinazzi as the team’s reserve driver. After three seasons at Alfa Romeo, Antonio Giovinazzi, The Italian Made it’s way back to Ferrari as a reserve driver.
