Umesh has consistently delivered in domestic settings in the past. The 35 year-old has taken 65 wickets in Indian conditions since the start of the year 2017, more than any other bowler, and his strike rate of 37.8 during that time is second only to Shami.
Moreover, he is the only Indian pacer in that time span to claim two five-wicket hauls. Umesh is a valuable asset for India in home conditions and is also highly effective when it comes to reverse-swing because to his ability to strike the deck hard and tremendous air speed.
India lead the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-0 and have strengthened their hold to go to the second consecutive World Test Championship final. A victory in the Indore Test will ensure their spot in the top showdown, when they will almost certainly face Australia.
