India’s Veer Dev Gulia had a heart-breaking loss in the bronze medal bout on the day 2 of the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. 22 year old Gulia was pitted against 2 time European U23 champion Radik Valiev of Russia in the battle of bronze. Gulia started little slowly which resulted in early 5-0 lead for the Russian. Despite of comeback from Gulia in the last 2 mins where he scored 4 points but failed to overtake the Russian and eventually lost the battle of bronze.
India is yet to officially open their medal account at the championship though Ravinder entering the finals of 61kg category, India is assured of minimum silver medal on the Day3.
Earlier Gulia’s good run was halted in the semi-finals of the 79kg freestyle category late Monday night on the Day1. Gulia tried his best but still he was no match for the Abubakr Abakarov of Azerbaijan in his Semi-Finals bout. 2018…Click here to Continue reading
