KCC 2023 highlights: In the last match of the day Anishwar Gautam’s cameo knock of 19 off 8 balls helped Rashtrakuta Panthers beat Vijayanagar Patriots by 5 wickets. Despite the loss the Patriots qualified for the finals on basis of net run rate. Rashtrakuta Panthers had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Vijayanagar Patriots could on post 98 on board in their quota of 10 overs. Chasing 99 for victory Panthers struggled in their run chase however they managed to chase down the target in the final over of the match.
In the second match of the day Ganga Warriors snatched win from the jaws of defeat beating Wodeyar Chargers by 7 runs in a nail biting encounter. For Ganga Warriors Mohith played an outstanding knock of 72 from 61 balls but was unable to take the team past the finish line as they finished at 106/5. Brian Lara was dismissed for just 2 runs in the run chase. Courtesy of the victory, Ganga Warriors qualified for the final.
Wodeyar Chargers had earlier won toss and elected to bowl first against Ganga Warriors. Darling Krishna had smashed half century to take the team’s total to 113/3 in 10 overs. The Day2 of the Karnataka Cricket Cup 2023 began with Vijayanagara Patriots taking on Kadamba Lions. In a one sided contest the Patriots won the contest by 10 wickets courtesy of a fine half century by former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs.
The opening day of the Kalanchitra Cricket Cup saw some action-packed cricket. The same is expected on the second day of the competition with as many as three matches lined-up for Saturday. In the first game, Vijayanagara Patriots will take on Kadamba Lions. The second match will be played between Ganga Warriors and Wodeyar Charger.
