IPL 2023: Glenn Maxwell has suffered a fresh injury scare after making his long-awaited return to the Sheffield Shield this week. The Australian all-rounder was fielding at first slip while playing for Victoria against South Australia on Tuesday. The 34-year old was hit on his left wrist and he fell on ground immediately wincing in pain. He was soon forced to leave the pitch. Glenn Maxwell suffered a gruesome fracture on his knee during November 2022. He underwent a surgery and had to be out of action for three months. After recovering fully, he made his return to cricket by playing for his club side Fitzroy-Doncaster. He smashed 61 in the game and was then named in the South Australia side for the ongoing Sheffield Shield contest against Victoria.
It was his first red-ball contest in four years. He was dismissed for just five runs after being trapped lbw in the first innings of the match. However, following his injury during the game, he has not been allowed to bat in the second innings so far.

He has been cleared to play in the second innings. Maxwell has also begun practice in the nets, which has come as a good sign.

Maxwell is eyeing his comeback to the Australian team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India that begins on March 17 Following that, Maxwell is also expected to feature in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has been retained by the franchise for 11 crores ahead of least year’s mega auction. He played a key role for RCB last year as he scored 301 runs in 13 innings. With the ball, he also scalped six wickets.
RCB will begin their campaign this year on 2nd April 2023. The lead led by Faf du Plessis will be facing Mumbai Indians in a blockbuster contest at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
