In an angry response to the five percent price increase for adult season tickets, fans have blasted the team. Arsenal too has raised their ticket prices by the same amount for the 2023/24 season. United said the reason for doing so was due to the ‘escalating cost of match day delivery’ and is ‘necessary to allow the club to operate on a sustainable basis’.

These reasons were provided despite share prices soaring by £334 million in just one day last week. The club also added, ‘We understand that our fans are also facing pressure from increased living costs and that is why we have kept price increases well below the current rate of inflation.’
Fans took to social media to vent their frustration. One fan said, ‘Given increases in TV revenue, they should be reduced.’ Another supporter said, ‘Don’t like this. New directors joining the club, changes to season ticket prices. This doesn’t scream like the glazers are selling.’

Another fan typed, ‘MUFC up for sale and are now increasing season ticket prices for the first time in 11 years. Nothing like milking it so they can push sale price up!’
The shocking increase in ticket prices comes amid accusations that the Glazer family, against whom thousands of Manchester United supporters frequently protest, is requesting an outrageous £6 billion to sell the team. The frontrunners to buy the club are Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. There is also interest from American hedge fund giants Elliott.
