During the practice session, Marnus faced the bowler while Steve stood behind the stumps. The bowler would bowl to Marnus, and Steve would react as if he was batting. This meant that Smith was watching the ball carefully and moving his bat in the same way as Marnus played the ball.

This unique practice technique helped both Marnus and Steve to develop their on-field communication and understanding. It’s important for both batsmen to have a good understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. This helps them to make quick decisions on the field, which is critical during a match. It’s a great example of the lengths that elite athletes go to refine their skills and reach the pinnacle of their sport.
However, in the first Test match, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith didn’t perform according to their name in world cricket. Labuschagne was the top-scorer in the first inning with 49 runs.
