IPL 2023: Kyle Jamieson Injury – New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Kyle Jamieson has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League. The lanky pacer will undergo surgery for his back stress fracture. He will be out for at least 3-4 months, ending his hopes of playing in IPL 2023. “Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is getting surgery later in the week. It’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. He has been fantastic when he has been around all of our sides when he has been part of them,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead confirmed.

Kyle Jamieson Injury: After not playing in an international cricket match since June, when he first sustained the back injury in England, Jamieson had been expected to participate in at least one of the next Test matches. However, tests conducted prior to the opening game in Mount Maunganui revealed a second fracture, and Jamieson will now travel back to Christchurch for more evaluation.
“It’s really gutting for Kyle to have this happen after he’d put so much hard work in to getting himself back on the park,” Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand, remarked. Jamieson sustained the same issue during the tour of England last year, and it has since returned.
“Since the injury in June we’ve certainly taken a cautious approach to managing his return with regular monitoring by our medical staff which has included scans.
“While Kyle’s not feeling any pain, the evidence is pretty clear he has a stress fracture and so he’ll return to Christchurch today and have a CT scan on Friday before we decide on the next steps.”
In the IPL mini-auction, the four-time IPL champions centered on acquiring all-rounders, and Jamieson’s injury forces CSK to address the succession issue. They will shortly make the replacement announcement and have alternatives include Maheesh Theekshana, Nishant Sindhu, Tushar Deshpande, and Matheesha Pathirana.
