The Day 2 of the 2nd Test was a frustrating one for West Indies and Zimbabwe as rain brought an end to days play. Only 49.4 overs were bowled in which West Indies scored 157 runs for the loss of four wickets.
For West Indies Roston Chase top scored with 70 runs, while wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva was dismissed for 44 runs. For Zimbabwe Brandon Mavuta was the pick o the bowlers with figures of 3/73.
The Day 1 of the ZIM vs WI 2nd Test belonged to visitors (West Indies) as they comfortably lead the host by 18 runs. left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie’s notched up his career-best figures helping his team bowl out Zimbabwe for just 115 runs. Motie picked up seven wickets in first innings conceding just 37 runs in 14.5 overs. For Zimbabwe Innocent Kaia top scored with 38 runs in the first innings. Craig Ervine (22) and Donald Tiripano (23) were the other major contributors. The rest of the batting lineup were unable to make major score.
West Indies also struggled to score runs at quick pace but Blackwood’s fifty coupled with contributions from Chanderpaul and Reifer meant that the visitors surpassed Zimbabwe’s total before the close of play. Zimbabwe’s bowlers bowled decently though but they will look for early breakthrough when the match resumes on Day 2.
Earlier in the day Zimbabwe had won the toss and opted to bat against WestIndies in the 2nd Test match of two-match series. The Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo is hosting the series finale. As the opening Test between the two teams ended in a draw, both teams will now seek triumph in the series by winning the second Test match.
