In an Instagram story, Sara posted a picture of a notebook along with the caption- “I keep writing RCB instead of RBC by mistake”.
The post came as a surprise because Sara does not follow RCB on any social media platform and her father Sachin Tendulkar only played for Mumbai Indians in his IPL career. Not even his brother Arjun Tendulkar has ever been associated with RCB. Sachin started his IPL career as the captain of Mumbai Indians and took over as the team’s icon after his retirement. Whereas, Arjun has been with MI since 2021.

RCB and MI have been part of IPL since the inaugural edition of the tournament and share a longstanding rivalry. The two teams haven’t met in the final of the IPL yet. However, they squared in the Champions League’s final in 2011 where Harbhajan Singh-led MI defeated Daniel Vettori’s RCB to lift the trophy in a close-fought encounter.
On one hand, RCB is yet to get their hands on the IPL title. The Bengaluru-based franchise has played three finals so far. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are five-time IPL champions. They ended their title drought under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in 2013. Rohit continues to lead MI while Virat Kohli left RCB’s captaincy after IPL 2021. Now, Faf du Plessis is the skipper of RCB.
In addition to their rivalry, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will face each other in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The owners of both teams have bought a team each in the newly-launched T20 league. The inaugural edition of the tournament will be played in March 2023.
