Cricket Australia asked “What’s tougher: An India tour, or away Ashes series? to their star cricketers and posted a video. Players like skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, David Warner among others expressed their views on what it’s like playing a Test series in India.
The skipper of the Australian side, who is embarking on a tough tour to India, said, “Winning a series in India is like an away Ashes series, but even more rare. I think it really is a career highlight and career defining series if you can win over there. So that’s an opportunity, can’t wait.”
“It’s a difficult place to win a Test match, let alone the series. So if we are able to topple that mountain that would be huge,” said the vice captain of the Aussie side, Steve Smith. He went on to add, “If you can win a series in India, that would be bigger than the Ashes.”
Australia last toured India in 2017 and lost the series 1-2 against the team that was led by Virat Kohli back them. Hazlewood rues at the missed opportunity of winning the series back then. “We won a Test match last time (in India). We had good chances to win the series. We didn’t quite grab them. So it’s probably the last thing to tick-off. ”
