IND vs AUS: Aussie great Gregg Chappell has labeled current Team India as ‘vulnerable’ ahead of the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. With injury-plagued hosts missing some of their key players, the former India coach is not completely wrong. This time around, the visiting Australian Team genuinely has a good chance to mark their stamp in Indian conditions. With a balanced squad, Kangaroos are roaring to go. While for India, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are out of the team. Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja are also somewhat dicey for 1st Test. “Australia can win this series. India are more vulnerable at home than they have been for some time due to injuries to key players like Rishbah Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. They will rely heavily on Virat Kohli,” Gregg Chappell wrote in his column in SMH.

“Australia must take wickets at regular intervals. Partnerships are the key, so they must prevent India from building them,” Chappell continued.

“To win, Australia must get wickets with the new ball. As the ball gets softer, they must bowl frugally and then reverse-swing the old ball. Spin is more of a weapon in India than in Australia, but we must always play our four best bowlers plus Green,” he added.

“It will be important that the Australian bowlers don’t give cheap runs particularly to the Indian lower order which has been a bugbear in the past. On the surface, India look to be handicapped by the loss of Pant, but Ishan Kishan is a capable replacement who bats aggressively,” Chappell in his column said.

Nathan Lyon will be the first spinner, but it is yet unknown who will bowl alongside the best off-spinner in the history of Australia.

Ashton Agar, a left-arm finger spinner, Mitch Swepson, a leg spinner, and Todd Murphy, an uncapped trump card, have been exerting significant pressure on Aussie management for that spot.
