Meanwhile, Babar Azam had a memorable 2022 and was bestowed with two marquee awards by the ICC. He won the ICC men’s player of the year as well as the ICC men’s ODI player for the year 2022. The Pakistan captain was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for being the Men’s Cricketer of the Year. The award came on the back of 2600 runs scored across all three formats. Azam also took Pakistan into the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup finals.
