IND vs NZ 2nd T20: The second T20 international between India and New Zealand at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow was an exciting match to witness. India, the hosts, emerged victorious by six wickets, making it a memorable win. The pitch at the Ekana Stadium, however, was a bone of contention for many. The batsmen were finding it hard to time the ball and the bowlers were enjoying their time on the pitch. Even Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian batsman, took to Twitter and stated that the pitch was not suitable for a T20 international. Follow India vs NewZealand Live Updates with InsideSport.IN

The pitch at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was helping the bowlers. It was a turning track, thus making it difficult for the batsmen to score runs. The former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, “This pitch not the best suited for T20 cricket. Batting shouldn’t be hard work in T20s. Sunday night sell out crowd deserved better.”

Indian bowlers, however, were up to the challenge and dismissed the New Zealand batting line-up cheaply and they could only score 99 runs in 20 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Deepak Hooda, bowled beautifully and picked up one wicket each. Spinners bowled a tight line and varied their pace, which bamboozled the batsmen and caused them to make mistakes.

Chasing the target of 100 runs, Indian batsmen had a tough task in front of them, as the pitch was not easy for batting. Shubman Gill, the Indian opener, departs early on 11 (9). Ishan Kishan, who was looking good, unfortunately, got run out on the score of 19. Then SuryaKumar Yadav took charge and, despite the tricky nature of the pitch, played some delightful shots and steered India towards victory.
Average turn in the T20 series against SriLanka was approximately 1.9 and the average turn in the T20 series against NewZealand rises to 3.6. This is the reason the pitch in Lucknow did create a hell-like experience among the batsmen, but India was able to rise to the occasion and register a thrilling win. However, cricket fans and pundits criticised the pitch.
