How Did Mike Tyson Buy His Tigers?
In 1992, Tyson was in prison for rape charges. And Tyson revealed that he had a dealer who he bought cars from. And when the dealer had a debtor, he had the option to trade in some cars for exotic animals. Tyson then enquired about the type of animals available. And when ‘Iron Mike’ found out he had the option of tigers and lions, he said.
“I asked, ‘Why don’t you order me a pair? I’ll be out in a couple of months. So when I got out, I came home, and I had two cubs.” Therefore, Tyson got his famous tigers from a deal with a car dealer to recover an unpaid load.
Why did Mike Tyson give away his tigers?
Although the tigers became Tyson’s trademark, things did not go well. As you can expect, the animals could not adjust to domestic life. And Tyson has since shared many excerpts of his time with the big cats. So why did he have to give up the tigers?
Unfortunately for Tyson, one day, when he was walking one of the pet tigers, the tiger noticed a neighbor’s dog. Before Tyson knew it, the tiger was jumping over the fence to devour the neighbor’s pet.
After that incident, the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) confiscated his tigers. This was not even the first incident involving the tigers. Therefore, Tyson could not even argue the decision.
So this is the story of how Mike Tyson got his tigers and eventually lost them.
What do you make of this story? Do you think Tyson should have kept the cars instead?
