Adani Group after failing to land an IPL team last time out has finally entered Indian cricket with the highest bid of Rs 1,289 Cr. They will operate the Ahmedabad franchise. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are 3 IPL teams who will own WIPL teams as well. The other new entrant is Capri Global who own team in ILT20.
Reliance-backed Mumbai Indians was the 2nd highest bidder with Rs 912 Cr and will operate Mumbai franchise. Diageo-backed RCB will operate from Bengaluru after bagging the team for Rs 901 Cr. JSW-GMR-backed Delhi Capitals will operate Delhi franchise after splashing Rs 810 Cr. Capri Global has bagged the Lucknow franchise for Rs 757 Cr.

“The WIPL would bring necessary reforms in women’s cricket and would ensure an all-encompassing ecosystem that benefits each and every stakeholder,” Jay Shah further added.
Another windfall for BCCI – After bagging Rs 941 Cr from Viacom18 for WIPL Media Rights, BCCI has now bagged Rs 4669 Cr from auction of five new teams.
To remind everyone, BCCI sold IPL Media Rights for Rs 48,390 Cr and two new IPL teams for Rs 12,715 Cr. BCCI expects around Rs 500-800 Cr for each WIPL teams.
