IND vs NZ LIVE: World Cup 2023 – Kuldeep Yadav is once again proving to be the best Indian leg-spinner in ODI cricket. With wickets and some out-of-the-world turns, he has managed to outsmart batters. Back in form once again in World Cup year, Kuldeep has nosed ahead in the race against his best friend Yuzvendra Chahal. He has managed to keep Chahal out of the Playing XI in the ongoing NewZealand series. With World Cup just 10 months away, he is now India’s favourite ODI leg-spinner. And if he performs well in IPL 2023, he can pip Chahal for the spot in T20 team as well. Follow India vs NewZealand LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
As India emphasise on having all-rounders in the Playing XI, the Kul-Cha pair is no longer favourite to play together. Hence, best friends have turned rivals and are competing for a spot. With 3 wickets in two ODIs against the Kiwis and 5 wickets in two ODIs against the Lankans, Kuldeep has managed to keep Chahal out of ODI line-up.

India has been crying out for a wicket-taking wrist-spinner in white-ball cricket for a while now. Yuzvendra Chahal, who wasn’t part of the squad since the last ODI against Sri Lanka, has been their go-to man over the last three years, but he hasn’t covered himself in glory with his performances over that time frame.
The left-arm wrist-spinner is proving to be the more effective option when it comes to taking wickets. Kuldeep’s ability to take wickets in the middle overs and break partnerships is essential for any successful bowling attack.
Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan also endorsed Kuldeep ahead of Chahal.
“Kuldeep is able to turn a lot more because his wrist position is better than what it was. He has changed his run-up, has more balance in the delivery stride and once he is able to control his body, a better wrist position, allows him to bowl with far more accuracy and turn the ball both ways,” Sivaramakrishnan told Indian Express.

Now, Kuldeep Yadav has given the opportunity in the absence of Chahal and Kuldeep grabbed it with both hands. Kuldeep has been performing well in the middle-overs, getting a breakthrough for India when needed. Kuldeep Yadav has become a much better option than Yuzvendra Chahal when it comes to bowling in the middle overs.
