The match played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar saw three-time winner Netherlands score its 13th goal in the 48th minute against Chile. The Dutch side eventually won the match 14-0.

The Australians had beaten South Africa 12-0 in the 2010 edition. The match witnessed Luke Doerner converting four penalty corners while veteran Jamie Dwyer and Glenn Turner also scored two goals apiece. Besides Doerner, Dwyer and Turner, Desmond Abbott, Fergus Kavanagh and Matthew Betturini also got their names in the score sheet.

Currently, India holds the record for scoring the most number of goals in the history of hockey. The men in blue achieved the feat against Hong Kong at the 2018 Asian Games after hammering them 26-0. Team India had 13 different scorers in that match which was in itself a record. Harmanpreet Singh, Rupinder Sigh, and Lalit Upadhyay had four goals to their name. Akashdeep Singh scored a hat-trick, while Varun Kumar and Manpreet Singh Sandhu scored two goals. The other goal scorers in that match were Vivek Sagar Prasad and S.V. Sunil.

Netherlands vs Chile match highlights
The Netherlands made Chile look like a club team as they steamrolled their opponents without facing much threat to their goal. The Dutch attacked right from the start and managed to open the scoring as early as the 6th minute. Jip Janssen opened his account in the match via a penalty corner. The Dutch kept the pressure on the opposition are managed to get three goals in the second quarter to end the first half with five goals. Derck de Vilder (22nd minute), Thijs Van Dam (23rd minute), and captain Thierry Brinkman (25th minute) managed to hit the board.
The third quarter saw the Netherlands demolish Chile scoring six goals. Brinkman got his second of the match three minutes into the second half. Janssen completed his hat-trick via another Penalty Corner. The other players to score goals in Q3 were Terrance Pieters (37th minute), Koen Bijen (40th minute) and Justen Blok (42nd minute). Janssen scored his fourth goal of the match a minute before the end of third quarter.
The final quarter saw Koen Bijen scoring the goal in the 45th minute, while Teun Beins successfully converted a Penalty Corner in the 48th minute. The 14th and final goal of the match for Netherlands came two minutes before the full-time goal scored by captain Brinkman scored from a Penalty Corner who also got his hat-trick.
