IND vs NZ LIVE 1st ODI: Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid are set for big selection call as Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav fight for 1 spot. Ishan Kishan will return as the wicketkeeper for the first One-Day International between India and New Zealand because KL Rahul and Axar Patel will not be playing in the NZ series. Even though Shubman Gill got a fantastic century in his last ODI, Kishan’s return to the playing XI will only imply that his place will be in danger. Gill will now have to battle for one spot in the team with SuryaKumar Yadav. Follow InsideSport.IN for LIVE updates about India vs NewZealand 1ST ODI LIVE

Shubman Gill or SKY?
KL Rahul is thriving in his new position at No. 5. In ODIs, he has been assigned to a wicketkeeper role. But without him in the NZ series, India lacks a wicketkeeper. Ishan Kishan, who has a double century to his credit, is the front-runner despite the addition of KS Bharat to the squad. Kishan will replace Gill for the opening spot.
With the opening spot filled, the Dravid-Rohit team have only No 5 spot that needed to be filled. Shubman Gill is a good alternative for No. 5 but the team management is unlikely to change his position given his recent opening records.
The next best thing is to play world-number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav at position number five and replace Shubman Gill with Ishan Kishan. But Shubman has made the selection process much more difficult with a century in the most recent game.
In KL’s absence, Suryakumar Yadav will get an extended run in the middle-order.
India’s updated ODI squad against New Zealand: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KS Bharat (wk), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Rajat Patidar, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik.
