Indian Cricket Team Overhaul – IND vs NZ T20: As reported earlier by InsideSport, the national selectors have left out Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the T20I squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand. InsideSport asked: Will they be considered for T20 in future?

BCCI Official: “Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli exit from Indian T20 team is permanent. Anything can happen in future but for now we need to move on. Move on and plan squad for 2024 T20 World CUP. Unfortunately, they don’t fit into new scheme of things”.

IND vs NZ T20: The writing on the wall is clear for Rohit, Kohli and various other seniors. It is clear that the BCCI has moved on from the duo as well as the likes of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R.Ashwin & Dinesh Karthik.

Selectors also did not considered KL Rahul for the T20 or ODI Squad. The BCCI though has put his absence and that of Axar Patel from both the ODI and T20I squads versus New Zealand down to family commitments.

Hardik Pandya will continue to lead the T20I squad. The new selection committee also picked Prithvi Shaw, who last played for India in July 2021, in the T20I squad. Kuldeep Yadav, who was Man of the Match for his 3/51 in the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday, is also back in the T20I squad. Harshal Patel has been axed.

With Rahul taking a break, India have called up KS Bharat as a second keeper alongside Kishan. In Axar’s absence, Bengal’s Shahbaz Ahmed has earned a call up for the ODIs.
